Container carrying 8 cars catches on fire in Medinipur; Fire controlled after two hours

A container loaded with eight private cars caught fire early Monday morning around 4 a.m. at Krishnanagar Parking on the Kharagpur-Kolkata National Highway 16 lane in Kharagpur 2 Block, Pingla Assembly area of Paschim Medinipur district, West Bengal. The container was stationary when the fire broke out suddenly, quickly engulfing all the cars inside.

Emergency response teams, including the fire brigade, police, and National Highway authorities, arrived at the scene soon after the incident was reported. Firefighters worked for nearly two hours to bring the blaze under control. Despite their efforts, all eight cars inside the container were completely destroyed by the fire.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the fire. The container was transporting private cars heading towards Kolkata. Preliminary reports estimate the financial loss due to the incident to be in crores of rupees. Police and fire officials continue to examine the situation to determine how the fire started.
